How to connect Telegram for messaging clients

This panel connects your Telegram account as a channel through which RentProg writes to clients. A message finds the client by phone number: the client will receive it if a Telegram account is registered to that number.

Do not confuse this with notifications to employees

Notifications to employees about new bookings come from a bot and are configured separately — see why Telegram notifications stopped arriving. This page is about messaging clients.

Who has access

The “Telegram (notifications for clients)” panel is in the company profile for everyone. The connection is created for the branch you are currently working in: each branch has its own connection and its own fee.

Balance first

Connecting requires a positive internal balance. Until the balance is topped up, the “Create instance” button is inactive, and the server will refuse to create the connection.

Important

The fee is charged daily. On creation, the cost for one day is charged immediately; after that, it is charged from the internal balance every day. The exact amount is shown in the panel — it depends on the company's plan and currency.

Step 1. Creating the connection

  1. Open the company profile, the “Integrations” tab.
  2. Expand the “Telegram (notifications for clients)” panel.
  3. Click “Create instance” and confirm the charge for one day.
  4. Wait about 30 seconds and reload the page — the “Authorize” button will appear.

Step 2. Authorization by QR code

  1. Click “Authorize” — the “Telegram Authorization” window opens with a QR code.
  2. Open Telegram on your phone and go to “Settings → Devices → Link Desktop Device”.
  3. Scan the QR code from the screen.
  4. Wait for the message “Telegram authorization successful!”.

If two-factor authentication is enabled

If two-factor authentication is enabled in Telegram, after scanning the window will ask for a password.

  1. Enter the password in the 2FA Password field. You can also enter it in advance, while the QR code is still on the screen, and send it after scanning.
  2. Click “Send password”.

Connection states

StateWhat it means
Not createdThere is no connection yet
CreatingThe connection is being created, please wait
StartingStarting or restarting
Not authorizedCreated, but no Telegram account is linked
Awaiting 2FA passwordThe QR code has been scanned; the two-factor authentication password is needed
AuthorizedWorking
SuspendedThe connection is suspended
BlockedThe account is blocked
DeletingThe connection is being deleted

The state is updated with the “Check” button — the screen does not re-query it by itself.

If it stopped working

Steps from gentlest to most drastic:

  1. Check the state — the “Check” button.
  2. Restart the connection — the “Reboot” button; this may take some time.
  3. Log out the connection and authorize again — the “Logout” button is visible while the connection is authorized.

Provider outage

If a provider outage warning appears above the messenger panels, do not delete or reconnect anything: your channels are fine, and messages to clients that are still relevant will go out after recovery. The control buttons are inactive during this time.

Downtime and automatic deletion

A connection that is not working is still charged every day. If it is not authorized, is blocked, or is waiting for a password, RentProg will warn you by email. After three days of downtime, the connection may be deleted.

  1. When you receive such an email, open the “Telegram (notifications for clients)” panel.
  2. Click “Check”.
  3. Authorize again or delete the connection if you no longer need client messaging.

When the balance is not enough

If after the daily charge the balance drops below the plan minimum, the branch is suspended, the Telegram connection is deleted, and an email is sent to the company's address. Companies that pay by invoice are not suspended this way. More details — what the company balance is charged for.

How to delete the connection

  1. Open the company profile, the “Integrations” tab, the “Telegram (notifications for clients)” panel.
  2. Click “Delete instance” and confirm.

After deletion, the daily fee stops. To bring client messaging back, the connection is created again — with a new charge and a new authorization.

After connecting

The connection does not send anything by itself: which messages go to clients is configured separately — see client notifications.

If the company has the CRM module connected, incoming client messages in this Telegram go to the CRM inbox, and leads are created from new inquiries — see conversations with inquirers.
