How to edit and activate a contract draft

A draft is a contract that has not taken effect yet: there is no schedule or booking, the vehicle is not occupied, and the terms can be changed. After activation the terms can no longer be changed.

How to find a draft

By default, the contract list shows only active contracts.

  1. Open “Rent-to-own” → “Contracts”.
  2. In the “Status” filter, choose “Draft”.
  3. Open the contract by clicking its row.

How to edit a draft

  1. Open the draft and click “Edit”.
  2. Go through the wizard: it opens with the draft's data, and you can change everything — product, client, vehicle, price, term, period, terms and checkboxes.
  3. Check the schedule on the last step.
  4. Save with the “Save” button — or “Save and activate” if the draft is ready.

Changing the product overwrites its terms

If you choose a different product in a draft, the formula, period, term, rate, rental part, grace days, late fees, risk threshold and reminder are replaced with the new product's values. The start date, prices, down payment, deposit, fee and checkboxes stay as they were.

How to view the schedule without editing

For a draft, the “Schedule” tab is empty and says “The schedule will appear once the contract is activated”. The “Preview schedule” button — right there and among the contract actions — shows the schedule based on the current terms. Nothing is saved: the rows are recorded only on activation.

How to activate a draft

  1. Click “Activate” on the draft page.
  2. Read the warning: the vehicle will be assigned to the contract, and the booking will be switched to rent-to-own contract mode.
  3. Confirm.

After activation, the schedule is recorded, a contract booking is created, and the contract becomes “Active”.

If the vehicle is occupied during the contract term, the system shows “This car is booked for these dates” and the contract stays a draft — see what is checked on activation.

How to cancel a draft

  1. Click “Cancel” on the draft page.
  2. Confirm the cancellation.

The contract gets the “Cancelled” status and never takes effect. The vehicle becomes available for a new contract.

Tip

Only a draft can be cancelled. An active contract is closed by termination or completion.
