How to connect WhatsApp

Connecting takes two steps, and they are easy to mix up: first the connection is created, then it is authorized with your number. Until the second step is done, messages do not go out.

Balance first

Connecting requires a positive internal balance. Until the balance is topped up, the connect button is inactive.

Important

The fee is charged daily. When you connect, the fee for the first day is charged immediately; after that, it is charged from the internal balance every day. The exact amount is shown next to the button — it depends on the company's subscription plan and currency.

Step 1. Connection

  1. Top up the internal balance — while it is not positive, the connect button is inactive.
  2. Click connect and wait for the connection to be created: this takes a few minutes.
  3. Wait for the authorization button — it appears when the connection is ready.

Step 2. Authorization

Authorization links the connection to your WhatsApp number. There are two ways.

By QR code:

  1. In WhatsApp on your phone, open “Linked devices” → “Link a device”.
  2. Scan the code from the screen — it refreshes itself, so scan the latest one.

By phone number:

  1. Enter the number and request a code.
  2. In WhatsApp, open “Linked devices” → “Link a device” → “Link with phone number instead”.
  3. Enter the code while the countdown is running on the screen.

Important

The code is valid for a limited time — a countdown runs on the screen. If it has expired, request a new one instead of entering the old one.

Tip

If a passkey is enabled on the WhatsApp account, the QR code method will not work — authorize by phone number.

Connection states

StateWhat it means
Not createdThere is no connection yet
StartingBeing created, please wait
Not authorizedCreated, but no number is linked
AuthorizedWorking
Sleep modeIdle
SuspendedSending is temporarily restricted
Yellow cardA warning from WhatsApp
BlockedThe number is blocked

The state is updated with the check button — the screen does not re-query it by itself.

If it stopped working

Steps from gentlest to most drastic:

  1. Check the state — the information on the screen may be out of date.
  2. Restart the connection — takes up to five minutes.
  3. Log out the connection and authorize again — the “Logout” button is right here in RentProg; after it, you need to authorize again with the same or a different number.

Important

The “Suspended” state means temporary restrictions imposed by WhatsApp for suspicious activity, and sending messages is limited until the specified date. Restarting does not lift this — the restriction is not on RentProg's side.

You cannot clear the “Blocked” state yourself — contact support.

Client's number

The number must include the country code. The plus sign and separators are not needed — the system removes everything except digits.

Important

A number without a country code will not result in a message being sent: the messenger has no way to guess which country the subscriber is in.

After connecting

Which messages exactly go to clients in the messenger is configured separately — see client notifications. A connected WhatsApp does not send anything by itself: all messenger events are off by default.

WhatsApp conversations with clients are available to company staff with the “Employee”, “Manager”, “Branch manager”, and “Main Administrator” roles.
